L-carnosine purchasing documents
Use this guide when requesting L-carnosine raw-material documents for global trade, with China and the United States as the main market checkpoints.
Yuanqi Ingredients is an ingredient trader based in China. This guide establishes neither manufacturer status nor authorized-distributor status, and it does not confirm market approval for a proposed material.
Specification sheet
Request a specification sheet with the exact material name, grade, revision and effective date. Check the identity tests, acceptance limits, units and methods against your intended use; a specification sets requirements, while a batch COA reports results.
Per-batch COA
Request the COA for each proposed lot, with its lot number, test date, issuing laboratory or quality unit, limits, methods and actual results. Match the lot identifier to the sample and shipment labels; ask for an explanation of any missing result or method.
TDS and SDS
Ask for a complete, dated TDS for technical characteristics and handling guidance. For the SDS, check that the material identifier, revision, hazards, handling, storage and protective measures match the material being offered; an SDS does not establish permission for food use.
OSHA SDS fields →Allergen, GMO and origin
Request current allergen, GMO and origin statements identifying the issuer, material and scope. Ask what feedstocks, processing aids and cross-contact assessment support the allergen or GMO wording, and distinguish manufacturing origin from the country of dispatch; request an origin certificate if your import route requires one.
Contaminants and microbiology
Ask which contaminant and microbiology tests are covered: individual metals, relevant process residues, total microbial count, yeast and mould, and relevant pathogens. For each agreed line, request the limit, unit, method and batch result; for absence or non-detection, ask for the test portion or detection limit.
Packaging and shelf life
Request the proposed net pack size, contact packaging, seal and lot-label details. Ask for the manufacture date, expiry or retest date, supporting shelf-life basis, storage conditions and remaining shelf life at delivery; agree these in writing for the proposed lot.
Reading the assay line
Ask whether a percentage is a quantitative assay or chromatographic area, which method and reference standard were used, and whether it is reported on an as-is or dried basis. Agree the method and reporting basis before comparing percentages or setting an acceptance limit.
Public market example: A&A Pharmachem lists an assay of 99–101% without naming its assay method; Newseed lists an HPLC assay of at least 99.0%. These are separate published examples, not a shared standard or our specification; neither is a result for a Yuanqi lot.
Destination market questions
The following public regulatory information is a starting point for questions about the exact material, process and finished-product use. Ask the responsible buyer or importer to document the applicable route and current conditions before a purchase commitment.
United States
United States: for dietary supplement manufacture, 21 CFR 111.75 generally requires a dietary-ingredient identity test unless FDA grants an exemption. Reliance on a supplier COA for other applicable component specifications has qualification, verification and quality-control conditions; the COA must state methods, limits and actual results.
21 CFR 111.75 →Ask for the documented legal basis for the intended dietary-supplement use and whether an NDI notification is required for the exact ingredient and process. This guide makes no determination of L-carnosine NDI status.
FDA NDI background →China
China: ask whether the finished product is an ordinary food or a health food, and request the applicable ingredient-use basis. Check whether a new-food-ingredient approval is needed for the ordinary-food use, or a health-food registration or filing route applies; overseas sale alone is not that evidence.
European Union
European Union: check the exact material, process and use against the Novel Food status Catalogue and, where relevant, the Union list and authorization conditions. The Catalogue is non-binding and non-exhaustive; ask about evidence of consumption history and destination-member-state restrictions.
European Commission catalogue guidance →Cite this guide
This purchasing guide explains which L-carnosine documents to request, how to separate specifications from batch results, and which market-access questions to raise for China, the United States and the European Union. It does not certify a supplier, batch or finished-product use.

Specification, COA, TDS and SDS
Ask for the specification sheet, COA, TDS and SDS of the item and form you are evaluating through Request Technical Documents, and we will confirm which are available.
Ask whether product-specific certificates are available, who issued them, which material and site they cover, and whether they are current; no certification is confirmed here.
Confirm the proposed order
Send your target specification, quantity, destination and required documents for review. Ask for written confirmation of material availability, packaging, MOQ, sample terms, price and lead time for the proposed order; these are not established by the market examples on this page.
Buying notes
This page covers carnosine as a raw material. Acetylcarnosine and zinc carnosine are different substances and are not covered here.
For nutrition applications, ask for the assay method and reporting basis before comparing percentages.
For carnosine bulk or L-carnosine bulk inquiries, send us your target specification, quantity and destination.
