NAD+, NADH and NMN on a purchase order

The plus sign in NAD+ identifies the oxidized coenzyme, whereas NADH denotes its reduced counterpart. NMN is nicotinamide mononucleotide, a separate compound from the dinucleotide listed here. Write beta-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide together with the required chemical form when requesting this ingredient.

The identity table on this page refers to CAS 53-84-9; a quotation for a different salt or hydration state needs its own description. Ask whether the quoted quantity and assay refer to hydrated material or an anhydrous equivalent. Keeping that basis explicit helps your formulation team compare the amount of NAD+ represented by each offer.

This catalogue entry handles NAD+ for nutraceutical ingredient sourcing. Identify your intended product and sales territory so your team can review the suitability of that exact material for the planned use.

Reading an NAD+ assay beyond the percentage

An NAD+ purchasing specification should distinguish identity, chromatographic purity and quantitative content. For example, Sigma-Aldrich lists HPLC purity, a spectrophotometric result on a dry basis, water and solvent content separately for its N7004 hydrate. This illustrates different measurements on one described product; its values and storage instructions do not define our proposed supply.

Ask which analytical result the quoted NAD+ percentage represents and which reference material or calculation supports it. Request the water result with its test method if your acceptance calculation uses a dry basis. For chromatographic testing, clarify which related compounds are resolved and how peaks other than NAD+ are reported.

Compare quotations using the same reporting basis before choosing on percentage or price. Your receiving criteria can then list the required NAD+ content separately from moisture, residual solvents and contamination controls appropriate to the finished product.

From the NAD+ enquiry to incoming inspection

Send your NAD+ acceptance criteria with the planned order size, formulation format and any restrictions on carriers or additives. Ask us to identify the proposed composition and confirm the batch-specific documents available for that order. Check that the name, form and lot reference on any COA correspond to the NAD+ material in the quotation.

For US dietary-supplement manufacture, section 111.75 sets a separate dietary-ingredient identity-testing requirement, subject to its petition-based exemption. That section also sets conditions for relying on supplier COAs for applicable component specifications, including supplier qualification and periodic reconfirmation. Have your quality team decide its incoming test plan before accepting the NAD+ batch.

Request handling instructions for the proposed NAD+ form, including unopened storage, transport and use after opening. If the ingredient will be dissolved during manufacture, ask what evidence supports the planned solution handling rather than carrying a powder retest period over to the liquid.
